Anti-Mullerian Hormone

Infertility is an important problem for couples to receive infertility treatment with a specialist. The National Statistical office has found that 18 % of married women are treated for infertility.

One of the procedures for treating infertility is to inject hormones to stimulate ovulation to obtain enough eggs to react with sperm. However, before the injection is stimulated, doctor will check the Ovarian Reserve first by evaluating from age, blood (such as FSH , Estradiol, Inhibin B, Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)) and ultrasound (such as Ovarian Volume, Antral Follicle Count (AFC)) for predicting responses of ovulation after stimulation  to achieve a good response and to prevent the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)

Currently, AMH levels are used as an indicator in reproductive assistance. AMH is a hormone produced by granulosa cells in ovarian follicles. AMH is found to be highest in adolescence (mean age of 15.8 years) and remain constant until 25 years of age. It gradually decreases with decreasing egg counts and is not detected at menopause. The doctor can also use AMH to predict the menopause as well.

Now, AMH is the best test for evaluating Ovarian Reserve, as the blood test can be done at any time of the day, unlike other tests, such as AFC, which must be checked during menstrual period and depends on medical expertise to get the correct value.

N Health provides Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test with Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) principle with high precision (CV <5%). The result also corresponds to the AFC.
