To determine therapeutic implication
General Information :
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the world. Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 have been confirmed to be highly related to breast cancer and ovarian cancer. American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) reported that BRCA mutation carriers have an increased risk of developing breast cancer (54-85%), ovarian cancer (40-60%), prostate cancer (20%), and pancreatic cancer (5%). Research has shown that 8% of the breast cancer patients and 14% of the ovarian cancer patients carry BRCA mutations. Moreover, as many as 50% of the patients with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) carry BRCA mutations.
